C Bay helping build Toy Mountain

CONSTNACE BAY – The Constance Buckham’s Bay Community Association (CBBCA) wants to give some Christmas cheer to all those who helped Constance Bay out during extreme flooding in both 2017 and 2019.
The CBBCA is taking the lead in collecting new toys in the Constance Bay area to be donated to Toy Mountain in time to help disadvantaged children over the holiday season.
“’Tis the season for paying it forward,” the CBBCA released in a statement yesterday (Dec. 8). “And for us especially those who have been here through the last few floods, it’s also our time to give back. Give back for all the support our beautiful community was given by the larger community of Ottawa.”
The CBBCA has organized with three Constance Bay businesses to collect toys within the community and then deliver them to the volunteers of Toy Mountain in a COVID-19 safe way.
The CTV and MAJIC 100’s Toy Mountain 2020 is a longstanding Christmas tradition that makes sure impoverished local children have something to celebrate on Christmas morning.
“Each year, Toy Mountain and the Salvation Army provide toys to more than 20,000 children, and this year our goal is to leave no child in Ottawa without a gift to open on Christmas morning,” organizers released in a statement.
The CBBCA had decided to take the lead in gathering toys in the West Carleton area.
“We have registered our community as a participating team in the Toy Mountain drive,” the CBBCA said.
To purchase and donate a toy (ages 0-12) and place it (unwrapped) in one of three Constance Bay drop off places by Dec. 17.
- Constance Bay Pharmacy
- The Point Dining Lounge
- The Lighthouse Restaurant and Grocery
“On your behalf, we will take them all to one of the official Toy Mountain drop off centres on Dec. 18,” the CBBCA said. “A special thank you to our local businesses for partnering with us on this program.”
