Galetta’s great cookie exchange, contest Dec. 9

GALETTA – Put your best Christmas cookie to the test.
The Great Galetta Cookie Exchange returns to the Galetta Community Centre (119 Darwin St.) Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m.
The community event features the opportunity for area residents to bake their best cookies and/or treats; bring them to the community centre; and exchange your sweet treats with those of your neighbours. You can also put them up for competition.
West Carleton Online last visited the Great Galetta Cookie Exchange in 2023, and you can read that story here.
“It went very well,” volunteer organizer Leah Dean told West Carleton Online following the 2023 event. “We had some new faces, some members of the Carp Fair board came by, and we had lots of regulars as well. There’s sort of a transition going on with some of our older participants skipping the event and some younger ones coming in. But we’re growing again. I was very pleased. People look forward to it. There’s lots of goodies.”
Organizers ask you bring 38 of your favourite cookies and/or an 11 by 13-inch pan of squares to share.
“Prizes for best cookie, square, Christmas costume and more,” organizers released in a statement. “Please bring a container or two for your take-homes. All are welcome.”
