WC football season to start end of June

WEST CARLETON – The West Carleton Wolverines Football Club is looking at a late June start to this year’s football season.
The football organization has been working towards a season this summer but has had to spend an inordinate amount of time dodging COVID-19 obstacles like public health regulations and government lockdowns.
With step one of the provincial government’s three step re-opening plan starting last Friday, the Wolverines can see an endzone.
“Football is back,” the Wolverines organization released in a statement Friday (June 11). “We are planning what the season will look like and flag football details will be out early next week.”
But the organization is hoping families who have been hesitant about registering will now make the effort.
Due to COVID-19 regulations the Wolverines expect to offer:
Two ghts per week (one night of games/one night of practice)
Start late June and finish up early August
Expect to have the option of playing in two weekend tournaments ( July 24 and 25 and potentially Aug. 7 and 8)
“We will send the details out next week to registered players and their families,” the Wolverines said. “If you have not done so already and are planning to, please register your player as soon as possible.”
