Joseph Edwin Cullen
Joseph Edwin Cullen, 87, of Arnprior, Ontario Canada, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018. Born April 11, 1931 in Letart, West Virginia to his late parents John and Mary (Florence) Cullen. He is also preceded in death by his brother William “Bill” Cullen.
Joseph is survived by his five children, their spouses and grandchildren, Joseph and Pam Cullen (Tina, Stephanie, Angie, Rachel, CR and Jeremiah) of Leon, WV, Nedra (Cullen) Cantrell (Angela, Michael, and Mark) of Vinton, OH, Mitchell and Terry Cullen (Sean and Heather) of Letart, WV, Teresa (Cullen) and Roger Spencer (Amy and Matt) of Ashville, OH, and David and Araceli Cullen (Kris and Ryan) of El Paso, TX. He is also survived by his sister Dora (Cullen) Weaver of Letart, WV, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and fellow artists.
Joseph was a military veteran for both the United States and Canada, serving as a sketch artist in the US/Korean War. He retired from the Canadian Department of National Defence as a Civil Engineer and in retirement was a Professional Pastel Artist following in the footsteps of his relative, Maurice Cullen. Joseph’s art education was from Europe and the United States. He traveled the world, painting landscapes and portraits from Germany, France, Switzerland, Mexico, Barbados, Trinidad, as well as all over South America, Canada and the United States.
Joseph also enjoyed hunting, traveling, coffee, making wine and entertaining.
Arrangments by the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. Friends are invited to join Joseph’s family during visitation Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 6:00-9:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Joseph Cullen to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
