Savvy Seconds hosts free children’s wear pop-up Nov. 14

KINBURN – Savvy Seconds-West Carleton is hosting its third free pop-up store of the pandemic, this time just outside its location at the West Carleton Community Complex.
Savvy Seconds is a free clothing consignment store, run entirely on donations and volunteers. The idea was the brainchild of Constance Bay’s Vera Jones as a way of removing the cost of clothing for families in need while trying to reduce the amount of perfectly good clothing ending up in the landfill.
The store has a small space inside the City of Ottawa Client Services Building at 5760 Carp Rd., but would be impossible to operate under COVID-19 restrictions due to the small space.
Organizers have hosted two outdoor pop-up shops in Constance Bay during the pandemic, the last one on Oct. 17.
On Saturday, (Nov. 14) Savvy Seconds returns home, that is its home’s parking lot, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – this time focused on youth wear.
“Savvy Seconds-West Carleton, your free family clothing service is hosting an outdoor free Children’s Wear Pop-up with a wide selection of children’s clothing, including winter wear and treasures,” Jones released in a statement. “Come and see us. COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Please note that due to space limitations we are not able to accept clothing donations at the pop-up.”
