Province launches school COVID-19 tracker
Special to WC Online
ONTARIO – The provincial government has launched a website you can use to track COVID-19 cases in Ontario schools.
It launched Friday (Sept. 11) and it will be updated every weekday and include a summary of cases, as well as more detailed information on where the numbers come from.
Today, (Sept. 14) the school tracker reports two new cases, one student and one staff member. In total there are 15 school-related cases. Five of the cases are students and 10 are staff members.
Of 4,828 publicly funded Ontario schools, 15 have reported cases of COVID-19. Six of the schools are located in Ontario, with each of those schools reporting one case each. Fellowes High School in Pembroke is also reporting a staff case of COVID-19.
The school board reports the individual is in self-isolation and the Renfrew County and District Health Unit is taking the lead on contact tracing.
