Voyago seeking school bus drivers for WC
Special to WC Online
WEST CARLETON – School is just around the corner and Voyago wants to make sure your kids get there safely, each and every day.
To do that, Voyago is currently recruiting drivers to serve several West Carleton routes as well as other routes in west Ottawa.
“Voyago is currently recruiting for school bus drivers in West Carleton, Barrhaven, Nepean and the west end of Ottawa,” Voyago recruitment specialist Lubna Haq told West Carleton Online today (Aug. 17). “Voyago is Ontario’s leading mobility company. We’re hiring dynamic, high achievers looking to make a difference in the transportation industry. Voyago continues to advance across Ontario with our multi-model diverse platform covering all mobility segments, including medical transportation, student transportation and public sectors with mass transit, para transit, and on demand personal mobility.”
It’s a role the company takes seriously.
“School bus drivers are responsible for safely transporting what we call ‘the most precious cargo’ to and from school while ensuring students’ safety while boarding and exiting buses,” Haq said. “School bus drivers are also responsible for performing pre/post- trip vehicle inspections to ensure optimal vehicle safety.”
The position pays $19 per hour and offers other benefits such as free licence upgrades, employee and family assistance programs and employee referral bonuses.
“We need at least 10 drivers or more in the West Carleton area,” Haq said.
In these strange times, Voyago is ensuring its staff are protected from COVID-19 and that extends to the hiring process.
“It has been very challenging times for everyone,” Haq said. “We are trying our best to keep the hiring process as easy as possible by doing virtual interviews and all onboarding documents are digital, uploaded online now.”
Haq says it has been a challenge to fill bus driver positions city wide this year.
“There is a shortage of school bus drivers in all of Ottawa and it has been challenging to hire drivers in the West Carleton area, especially Dunrobin,” she said. “I believe getting a word out would help us and this seemed like a great platform to get the community’s attention. Our teams are continuously recognized as top performers in client programs and safety awards. If you’re a high achiever looking for an opportunity to demonstrate your achievements come join us.”
The ideal candidate will posses the following qualifications that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Posses clean driving record and Criminal Record Search With Vulnerable Sector
- Possess a minimum of a G class licence
- Ability to work independently
- Have a sound knowledge of the region of the assigned school route and surrounding areas.
