WEST CARLETON – The West Carleton Food Access Centre (WCFAC) has launched its 2023 Christmas Initiative looking to combine those who need a little help this holiday season with those ready to give a little help this holiday season.
“The WCFAC assists residents of West Carleton all year round and we understand the holidays can be especially difficult,” WCFAC co-chair Mary Braun told West Carleton Online Saturday (Nov. 4). “Please read on to see how you can help us do what we do best.”
Those in West Carleton-March who seek assistance can make a request to the WCFAC up to Dec. 20.
“If you find you would like extra help this Christmas and area a resident of West Carleton, please contact the WCFAC in strictest of confidence,” Braun said.
You can leave a message at 613-832-5685 with your name and contact number. A volunteer will return your call to make the necessary arrangements.
The WCFAC pick-up location is in the downstairs of the West Carleton Community Complex (5670 Carp Rd.) by appointment only.
For those who wish to help those in need, you can also reach out to the WCFAC.
“Local residents, businesses, clubs, churches, etcetera who wish to help,” Braun said. “We offer recipients of a gift that allows them to accommodate their family’s preferences. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated.”
Cheques can be made to the West Carleton Food Access Centre, 5670 Carp Rd. Kinburn, ON, K0A 2H0. For more information, or to send etransfers, use the email Wcfoodaid@gmail.com.
“Community coming together to ensure everyone has access to a joyous holiday celebration in their home,” Braun said.
Eligible donations more than $20 will receive a tax receipt.
The WCFAC will be closed from Dec. 21 to Jan. 7, reopening for regular orders Monday, Jan. 8.
