WCAS signature art show returns in full Oct. 7
Special to WC Online
CARP – The West Carleton Art Society’s (WCAS) signature show is set to make its fabulous return to the Carp Agricultural Hall (3790 Carp Rd.) Oct. 7 weekend.
Expressions of Art has not been held in our reality since 2019, instead forced to the far reaches of the information superhighway, holding virtual shows online the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
WCAS organizers say the event regularly attracts more than 2,000 visitors and generates more than $20,000 in sales over the weekend.
The juried show started accepting applications from artists last April, and is now one step closer to unveiling the line-up of incredible artists.
“The WCAS is delighted to announce its signature show Expressions of Art, will return this fall,” the WCAS released in a statement. “This exhibition and sale will showcase the creative talents of more than 30 top artists from the Ottawa region, all selected through a formal, independent jurying process.”
The show has been held annually for more than 25 years and is currently presented at the Carp Agricultural Hall.
“After two years of virtual shows, the artists are excited to be back live and in-person; come out to meet and chat with them,” the WCAS said. “It will be a fabulous show. A high quality, vibrant display of images and colours with everything from landscapes and abstracts to photography and glass. There will be a variety of artwork and mediums to please every taste.”
Entrance to the show is free and there is plenty of free parking. The venue is fully accessible.
“Cash donations to the West Carleton Secondary School Fine Arts bursary program are gratefully accepted,” the WCAS said.
The opening reception or Vernissage will be held on Friday, Oct. 7 from 7 to 9p.m., and features live music by Natalie Hoffman, tasty morsels and a cash bar.
Expressions of Art then runs from Saturday, Oct. 8, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
