St. Mary’s corn roast socks it to it

DUNROBIN – On a beautiful summer late afternoon last week (Aug. 20), St. Mary’s Anglican Church hosted families, friends and neighbours at their Annual Old-Time Corn Roast.

Those who attended enjoyed all-you-can-eat corn on the cob from Hudson’s, homemade baked beans, hot dogs, desserts, refreshments and live music al la fresca on the lawns at St. Mary’s Anglican Church nestled in the woods on the Sixth Line Road.
“We were so happy to have sunny skies this year to welcome our community to our annual event,” volunteer Suanne Dorion said. “We are grateful to our volunteers from St. Mary’s who helped put this event together, including our hard-working student volunteers and youth who rose to the occasion to make our visitors feel welcome!”
This year, St. Mary’s extended their community outreach program to kindly request donations of new underwear and socks be brought to the corn roast, which will be distributed to those in need in West Carleton and area by the church’s local community partner.
“We are thrilled with the community’s response to our outreach program which will certainly be welcomed by our community partner The ReSource Rack,” Jan Helmer, the outreach volunteer for this initiative, said.
