FITZROY HARBOUR – Check out some sweet rides in Baird Park this Saturday in support of Arnprior Special Olympics.
Fitzroy Harbour’s Jorgen Jensen is organizing a Show and Shine at the Fitzroy Harbour park (2388 Fitzroy St.) as a fundraiser for the organization that supports people with special needs participating in competitive sports.
“All the money raised is going back to pay for all Arnprior Special Olympics expenses, it doesn’t just go to one sport it pays for every athlete’s expenses,” Arnprior Special Olympics’ Catherine Buffam-Jensen said.
The organization also supports athletes in the West Carleton area.
The Show and Shine is an opportunity to see some of the areas coolest automobiles, from classics approaching 100 years old to some more recent classics from the ’60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s, all polished to perfection.
“This Saturday, Baird Park Fitzroy Harbour, music, cool cars, BBQ, all in aid for Special Olympics Arnprior,” Jensen released in a statement Tuesday (Aug. 22). “Bring your appetite, bring your friends, be there or be square. Hosted by Bethel-St. Andrews United Church.”
There will also be a barbecue, 50/50 tickets and a bake sale.
The event will start at 10 a.m. and go to 1 p.m. (or so).
