RENFREW COUNTY – A relatively untouched area of eastern Ontario now finds itself dealing with the most COVID-19 cases it has during the entire, almost two-year pandemic.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) reported a record-breaking number of new COVID-19 cases yesterday (Jan. 3).
The RCDHU reported 281 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Those numbers include weekende cases.
The 281 new cases reported is more than all of what was recorded the previous week in Renfrew County.
Two local residents also died from complications due to COVID-19 in the last seven days.
The weekly case summary put out on Dec. 30, 2021, showed nine residents in the hospital with one person in the intensive care unit battling COVID-19.
With 1,652 confirmed cases, 1,080 considered resolved and 13 deaths reported by the RCDHU, the health unit is tracking 559 active cases spread out across Renfrew County and District.
