Reillys host DIamondview plant sale June 1 weekend

KINBURN – The Reillys know how to maximize the growth potential of their one-acre Diamondview Road property, and on the June 1 weekend, you can take advantage of their hard work.
The Reillys will be hosting a plant sale on June 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on their property at 3328 Diamondview Rd.
West Carleton Online visited the Reillys last March to see the property which features greenhouses, a plethora of gardens and fruit trees, and most recently, an off-grid, climate-controlled root cellar.
For 25 years ending in 2009 Phil and Carole Reilly operated a commercial greenhouse business on the property known as Reilly’s Country Gardens.
“We started very small, and grew to a business with several employees,” Phil told West Carleton Online on March 26. “The focus was native plants. There weren’t many nurseries in the area at the time. We grew 3,500 different perennials over the years.”
While they officially got out of the business in 2009, they never lost their love of gardening, and on June 1 weekend, you can purchase some of their efforts.
“Getting ready for our plant sale,” Phil released in a statement today (May 15). “So far we’ve got more than 600 pots of perennials, dug from our many garden beds, on the benches seen in the photo. I’ve run out of bench construction materials and there are still many more pots of annuals (and a number of shrub and trees) to add to our inventory of available plants.”
The Reillys will also be sharing some of their crop for the upcoming West Carleton Garden Club and Horticultural Society plant sale May 18 at the Carp Farmers’ Market (but don’t worry, they’ll have plenty at their home for their own sale).
“Hope to see you all soon,” Phil said.
