OPG postpones Feb. 13 info session due to inclement weather

CONSTANCE BAY – Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is postponing tomorrow’s (Feb. 13) hydroelectric operations information session due to expected inclement weather.

OPG had scheduled an information session Thursday, Feb. 13 at the Constance and Buckham’s Bay community centre to share information on its hydroelectric operations in eastern Ontario.

But Environment Canada is calling for 30 to 40 centimetres of snow expected to start tonight (Feb. 12)

“A highly impactful winter storm Wednesday evening into Thursday,” Environment and Climate Change Canada released in a statement yesterday (Feb. 11). “Total snowfall amounts of 30 to 40 cm. Peak snowfall rates possibly exceeding five cm per hour.”

Because of that, OPG will postpone tomorrow’s information session.

“Due to the weather, we’ve made the decision to postpone the meeting scheduled for tomorrow (Feb 13) in Constance Bay,” OPG senior stakeholder relations advisor Jennifer Gardiner told West Carleton Online today (Feb. 12).

OPG has not committed to a new date for the meeting yet.

“We will reschedule – working on that as well,” Gardiner said.

OPG will host two virtual sessions on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and Thursday, Feb. 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. OPG asks you register in advance for the virtual sessions, and you can do so here.
