April 26, 1972 – February 24, 2019
Neil, Gaelic for Champion, and that is what he was.
Neil was the beloved son of Helen Hobart and Doug Sample, a loving husband to Heather, a proud father to Travis (Jasmine), Kyle (Kate), Kaitlyn (Lukas), and Jaeden (15), a caring big brother to Katie (Trevor), and fun loving ‘Uncle Giggles’ to Layla (7), and Lennon (5). He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and life-long friends.
As a young boy he championed his mother, father, and little sister. As a young man, he championed his son Travis, and was so very proud of the young man he has become. Neil fell deeply in love with Heather, his lady, his love, and through all of his sickness, she was his champion and angel. Together they blessed the family with Jaeden, his little girl. He was so proud of the beautiful young woman she has growing into. Neil was a loving, proud father of Kyle and the caring man he has become, and of Kaitlyn and the beautiful, warm woman she is today.
Neil and Heather rejoice with Travis, Kyle, and Kaitlyn that they too have found the loves of their lives. In addition to children, a long line of fur-babies over the years completed his family. Neil and Helen will always be grateful to their Italian family Giuseppe and Iolanda Romano.”Grazie”.
As a champion, Neil fought so very hard to stay with us. He went through all the treatment one man could handle, but ultimately it was time for him to rest, to be at peace and without pain. To everyone who has helped along this painful journey, Neil and his family are so very thankful. Neil will be forever loved and missed. His life was a beautiful gift, his death a tragedy.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Neil’s Honour from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27 at the Heart & Soul Cafe, 2741 Dunrobin Rd, Dunrobin. Drop in anytime and feel free to wear jeans and a rock band shirt.
The family will also be having an Irish Wake on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16. Details to follow on Facebook and by phone. There’s still time to send flowers to the Celebration of Life at the Heart & Soul Café from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on February 27, 2019.
