Marjorie Langley

Marjorie Langley,

1920 – 2021

(nee Graham) Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Mum was a true Maritimer at heart. Predeceased by her husband John Gordon Langley and her youngest son Rob (Piera), she is survived by four children – Douglas (Shirray), John (Nancy Sinclair), Betty Jane Giles (Allan) and Judy (Wilf Brousseau), and five grandchildren – Auston Langley (Catriona), Spencer Langley, Graham Giles, Scott Giles (Stephanie) Mitchell Langley, and six great grandchildren. Married during WWII, she and John lived in many places in Canada – Halifax, Vancouver, Toronto, Donnacona QC, Cornwall, Town of Mount Royal, Rothesay NB, Ottawa and Cowansville QC. Upon John’s retirement they wintered in Naples Florida where they spent many happy years. She met many people wherever they went and everyone loved Mum. She always had a genuine smile on her face and was thoughtful, gracious, kind and considerate. She was very active in sports. She enjoyed curling, tennis and sailing. She was the ladies golf champion at her club in Naples. She was a knowledgeable sports fan. She enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid reader, and she did her crosswords in ink. Annual shopping trips with her daughters were important. But, above all, family came first. Birthdays, holidays, especially Christmas and gatherings at the Sandy Lake cottage gave her so much joy. Always up for a party, she rarely missed happy hours with Dad, with rum and coke her signature drink. Our last gathering celebrated her 100th Birthday! We would like to thank the staff at Island View Retirement Residence in Arnprior for their care and support and the staff at Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital for taking such good care of Mum in her final days. A private family gathering will take place. In lieu of flowers donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
