Jean-Pierre “Pete” “Reuben” Lajoie
Jean-Pierre “Pete” “Reuben” Lajoie,
Member of the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame (1999)
On Friday, March 29th, 2019, the Ottawa Valley lost one of its Hall of Fame inductees, Pete Lajoie, aka Ruben.
Son of the late Damasse and Cecile. Predeceased by his wife Michelle Lajoie. Beloved brother of Micheline (Paul Landry), Suzanne Lajoie (Peter Richard), Guy (Penny) Lajoie, Helene (Kirk Mandy). Predeceased by his siblings Nicole (André Charron), and Luc (Debbie – surviving). Father of Chantal Lafontaine, Amanda Lajoie, Tammy Belanger, Cathy Carlini and Julie Bissell.
Anyone who knew Pete knows what a talented guitar player he was. He loved music so much and was a mentor for so many over the years. So much so that he shared his passion for music with everyone he came into contact with. Pete graced the stage with many talented artists over the years, far too many to name.
He met the love of his life, and made so many friends and they have remained life long friends right up until they day he passed. Pete was a modest man with a positive outlook on life and saw the best in everyone. He could always be counted on to tell a joke or come up with a witty one liner that would make everyone laugh. Being inducted in 1999 into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame was a great honour for him and a testament to all that he has given to the many artists and the countless hours he dedicated himself to his love of music.
Friends may visit the family at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, on Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. For those who can not attend, a celebration on of life will follow in the coming weeks.
May you rest in peace, Ruben and play that guitar loud for all the angels who have come before you.
For those who wish, a donation to the Good Food Bank, Perth or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
