Eunice Rosa De Oliveira

Eunice Rosa De Oliveira,

June 22, 1931 — February 11, 2024

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Eunice Rosa DeOliveira on February 11, 2024, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, relative and friend whose zest for life touched everyone she met.

Eunice was born in Madeira Island, Portugal where she spent the first 36 years of her life. She supported our father’s vision to immigrate to Canada. Once in Canada, she went to work to provide her children with all the possibilities that Canada had to offer. After bringing up her children, our parents started wintering in Florida where Eunice became the life of the party enjoying fish fries, playing the piano and attending the events from the park, at times dressed as the Portuguese folklore players. Once they were no longer able to go to Florida they moved to independent living. Soon after, our father passed away and after a period of mourning she reinvented herself and became an independent woman. She learned how to use technology and attended many Messenger meetings with her family in Phoenix, Calgary, Chicago and Edmonton including scheduled Sunday morning calls. Again, she became the life of the party by unconditionally loving everyone, loving life, and sharing her adventures on the IPAD with her friends.

Eunice passed away after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. At the end, she was very peaceful and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her mother Maria Espiridia, her husband Jose Renato and by her daughter Elda. She spoke of Elda on her last day indicating how much she missed her.

Eunice is survived by her daughters Dalila, Telma (Dave), Ana (Jerry). Her grandchildren (Michael, Gregory, Kyla, Amanda, Theo, Jennifer, Marissa, Erika, Tanis, Kaytlin and Sean) and great grandchildren (Christopher, Ariela, Elodie, Lewis, Aria and Myles)

On her final days, she was admitted to the Ottawa Civic hospital where she received outstanding care. The family offers their thanks and commends them for their professionalism and support during a very difficult time. Special thank you to Lindsay and Ana, and the staff.

Funeral services will be held at the St Isidore Roman Catholic church, 1135 March Rd, Kanata, Ontario K2K 1X7 on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time, followed by a reception. A private burial will follow.
