CARP – Last year’s Huntley Community Association (HCA) inaugural Carp Winter Carnival was a huge success.
It was also one of the last community events to be held in West Carleton in 2020. The date was March 3 and two weeks later the entire country was in a lockdown as the global COVID-19 pandemic officially touched down in Canada and every single community event involving a gathering of people was cancelled.
While HCA planned the event with the goal of it being an annual occurrence, it obviously won’t be happening this winter. But the community association is already planning the 2022 edition.
“Unfortunately, the Carp Winter Carnival, which was a huge success last year, was unable to go ahead this year due to COVID-19 restrictions,” the HCA released in a statement today (Feb. 19). “However, the HCA is hard at work planning for the carnival to be back and better than ever next year.”
Organizers are planning to hold the second annual HCA Carp Winter Carnival on the third weekend in February – Feb. 18 to Feb. 20, 2022.
In other HCA news, the association held its second metal recycling fundraiser last November and have declared it a success.
“The HCA held its second metal recycling fundraiser this past November,” the HCA said. “The event was a great success as the Carp community helped fill two large bins with 5,700 kilograms of recyclable metal.
The HCA planning to schedule another metal recycling event later this spring.
