GALETTA – The Galetta Community Association (GCA) is getting back to work after a long, COVID-19 forced break.
“On Aug. 30 the GCA will be holding a regular meeting at 7 p.m.,” board member Sandra Fletcher told West Carleton Online yesterday (Aug. 19). The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. It takes a community to run this association and we hope many will join us.”
Social distancing will be observed and masks are required.
Fletcher says the meeting will have no particular focus, but will kick off all future plans and allow board members to get an idea of what the GCA volunteer base might look like.
“Mostly a catch-up situation,” Fletcher said.
The GCA hosts many regular and special events while also maintaining the community centre and outdoor rink in the village. Some of the popular events the GCA hosts include an annual community potluck; annual three day rummage and garage sale; annual Christmas cookies swap; and just before the pandemic, was looking a the idea of bringing pickleball to the community. Galetta is also home to West Carleton’s only lawn bowling club.
