Freezing rain expected to coat WC starting tonight

WEST CARLETON – Environment Canada expects freezing rain to coat West Carleton starting tonight (March 22) in to Thursday (March 23) morning.
“Snow mixed with freezing rain will begin this evening before transitioning to periods of freezing rain by early Thursday morning,” Environment Canada released in the form of a Freezing Rain Warning today (March 22). “Freezing rain will then transition to rain late Thursday morning.”
That weather could create challenges on the morning community Thursday, a commute that will be further complicated by American President Joe Biden’s visit.
Freezing rain with roughly two to four millimetres of ice build up is possible on untreated surfaces.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery,” Environment Canada said.
Tonight’s (March 22) low is expected to reach 0 degrees Celsius, while rising to 5 C Thursday. Five to 10 mm of rain is expected Thursday.
