FITZROY HARBOUR – The long-awaited Fitzroy Provincial Park Concerts in the Park Series returns from its two-year COVID-19-forced break.
The popular, free concert series kicks off July 7 featuring Eddy and the Stingrays.
“Waste Management and I present the 2022 Concerts in the Park Series, hosted by West Carleton Disaster Relief,” Coun. Eli El-Chantiry released in a statement yesterday (June 14). “The concerts will take place at Fitzroy Provincial Park every Thursday evening in July. Please join us for this family-friendly entertainment. Proceeds will be collected in support of CHEO.”
The remaining Thursday nights will feature the Fabulous Heartbeats (July 14), Joe MacDonald and the Walking Hawks (July 21) and Ambush (July 28).
“Come and enjoy four week of outdoor concerts on Thursday nights,” organizers said. “Bring a lawn chair and enjoy, rain or shine.”
Gates open at 6 p.m. and the concerts run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Donations for CHEO will be collected at the gate. Each night a barbecue will be hosted by local youth groups funding their programs. Barbecues start at 6 p.m.
The last time the event was held was in 2019, when the series celebrated its 24th year. Even the great North American blackout of 2003 wasn’t enough to cancel the show as Ambush carried on thanks to the use of generators while 50 million others, including almost all of Ontario, were left without power. The 2022 series will be the 25th edition of the Fitzroy Concerts in the Park series.
