Old-Growth Forests Painting Workshop

February 27 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join your local Land Trust for a creative Friday evening at the Art Hub in downtown Carleton Place as you unwind and let your imagination flow in a painting class inspired by old-growth forests. In this step-by-step class, you’ll create your own cedar tree painting under the guidance of local artist Donna Naprstek. Enjoy a welcoming, easygoing atmosphere designed for beginners and experienced painters alike. Canvases and paint are provided; brushes will be available to purchase.

The session will also feature guest speaker, Eric Boysen! Eric is a local Lanark County forester who works with his forester wife, Barbara, on a variety of natural environment projects. Together, their focus is on maple syrup production, conifer plantation management, and generally helping woodlot owners restore their own. Eric will share how to recognize and restore old-growth features and functions to our local forests.

Participants will:
  • Learn about the importance of old-growth forests in the region
  • Build creative confidence and take home a finished piece of art
  • Explore painting techniques in a supportive, relaxed setting
Registration: Pay what you can ($30–$50). Spaces are limited to 15 participants – reserve early! Visit mmlt.ca/events to learn more and secure your spot.

All proceeds support Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust and its work to protect ecologically sensitive lands across the Mississippi and Madawaska River watersheds.
