“The Annual General Meeting for 2021 of the Galetta Community Association will be held at the Galetta Community Centre, on Nov. 22, at 7 p.m.,” GCA treasurer Patricia Rose told West Carleton Online yesterday (Oct. 26). “All are welcome and masks are mandatory.” 

Now that the GCA is caught up, it can begin to focus on the future again.

“The association is looking forward to planning post-pandemic activities that can be accommodated in or around the community centre,” Rose said. “Members are invited to suggest activities they would like to participate in/or organize, especially if they can guarantee interest from a sustainable number of people.”

GCA volunteers will already be adding a new activity at the community centre this winter.

“One item already planned for this winter will be a small, rink known as a ‘puddle rink’ to be constructed in a corner of the parking lot, where youngsters can learn to skate in safety from sticks and pucks, as the rink is shinny-free,” Rose said. “This will, of course, be in addition to the excellent, flood-lit rink which is usually open in time for Christmas, weather permitting.”

Anyone who lives in or near the area of Galetta and Vydon Acres is eligible to be a Galetta Community Association member, and new residents may join for a small fee at the meeting.
