Carp library presents Learn to Forage

November 7 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Learn to Forage – Friday, November 7  3-5pm

In her two-hour Learn to Forage program, naturalist Tauney Stinson shares her knowledge of common Ottawa Valley wild edibles, including many that likely grow in your yard or garden.  She uses her humour and years of experience to delve into some of the ethical ramifications of foraging for wild food and suggests ways that foragers can be stewards of the land, and gives important safety and sustainability tips for newbies and advanced foragers alike.

Tauney Stinson is an outdoor educator, forager, and beekeeper. She started foraging at a young age alongside her mother, who taught her the basics, and personal interest pushed her to study mushrooms in particular. Tauney teaches foraging classes  in the Ottawa Valley throughout the season as Forager Bee, as well as teaching the Wild Edibles class for the Outdoor Adventure Naturalist, Forestry, and Environmental Technician programs at Algonquin College. Drop-in program.
