The annual Kids Fishing Derby is back again this Family Day weekend.

Hit Buckham’s Bay Sunday, Feb. 17 starting at 9 a.m. for an opportunity to try ice fishing during the free fishing weekend.

Organizers will drill participants a hole, provide them with a rod and even put the minnow on the hook for you. The event runs until 3 p.m. and there will be lots of prizes (and not just the prize fish). Organizers ask you register across from the boat launch before noon.

Proceeds go to support the West Carleton Food Access Centre.
