Environment Canada calls for even more snow starting overnight

WEST CARLETON – It’s been a snowy start to 2023. West Carleton has experience winter weather related warning for West Carleton on Jan. 12, Jan. 19, Jan. 23, Feb. 16 and Feb. 22.
Thursday evenings have been extremely popular for snowfalls this year. Well, it’s coming early this week with Environment Canada saying as much as 15 centimetres could fall starting tonight in its latest snowfall warning.
“Snow heavy at times with total accumulations near 15 centimetres,” Environment Canada released in a statement today (Feb. 27).
Peak snowfall rates of two to four centimetres per hour are being forecast.
“Snow is expected to begin overnight and become heavy at times late Tuesday (Feb. 28) morning or early Tuesday afternoon,” Environment Canada said. “The snow will taper off late Tuesday afternoon. Reduced visibility in heavy snow and slippery surfaces due to accumulating snow.”
Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” Environment Canada said. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.”
