COVID-19 cancels WC Skating Club programming until January

WEST CARLETON – As a result of ever-changing COVID-19 regulatory practices, the West Carleton Skating Club has had to delay the start of its programming this fall.
“In the ever-evolving situation this season, we have more information to share with our members,” the volunteer club executive released in a statement Saturday (Oct 17). “It is with heavy hearts we announce we are unable to proceed with our Parent and Tot, CanSkate, Advanced CanSkate, Pre-Power and CanPower programs at this time and we be re-evaluating for the January session.”
The West Carleton Skating Club had only just announced the upcoming programming season just a little more than a week ago.
“As a non-profit organization, this decision wan not taken lightly and, in doing so, we are hoping to maintain the health and safety of our members,” the board said. “Thank you for your continued support, especially through these difficult times and we hope to see you in January.”
Volunteer member Heidi Greer can’t remember a situation like this in the club’s history.
“It is so unfortunate for the kids in our community,” she said. “We had to cancel most of our programs for the first time in over 30 years.”
