OTTAWA – A ski cross competitor and a softball player were honoured with 2023 Ottawa Sports Awards following the final announcement of this year’s recipients released yesterday (Feb. 1).

ARNPRIOR – A big 7-3 win last Saturday (Jan. 27), has clinched a playoff spot for the Arnprior Rivermen who can still climb the ladder a bit more and perhaps secure a more favourable first-round match up in the East Division.

OTTAWA – Atlético Ottawa’s newest addition Kris Twardek got his start playing soccer in West Carleton before travelling the world thanks to his football skill.

ARNPRIOR – The Arnprior Rivermen (6-9-1) ended the first period of Saturday’s (Jan. 20) Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League (EOSHL) game with a 2-1 lead against the powerhouse South Stormont Mustangs (13-4-0).

NAKISKA, AB – Dunrobin native Hannah Schmidt won the women’s big final in the World Cup ski cross series on home snow today (Jan. 20) Nakiska, AB.

ARNPRIOR – It’s been a rollercoaster of a regular season for the Arnprior Rivermen, but assistant coach and Corkery resident Douglas Twining says the team is ready to finish the season strong and book their ticket for a long playoff run.

WEST CARLETON – With the West Carleton Outdoor Hockey League (WCOHL) still waiting for winter weather, volunteer convenors have extended the registration period to the end of this week (Jan. 7).

AROSA, SWITZERLAND – Dunrobin native Jared Schmidt won back-to-back World Cup gold yesterday (Dec. 12) and his big sister Hannah joined him on the podium winning her first ever gold on the World Cup ski cross circuit.

VAL THORENS, FRANCE – Dunrobin native Jared Schmidt is bringing home gold today (Dec. 7) after winning the men’s big final of this week’s World Cup ski stop in Val Thorens, France.

SYRACUSE, NY – Carp’s Joe Carroll has turned a professional tryout in to a two-year contract with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
