CARP – On Sept. 20, 2021, Kanata-Carleton Conservative candidate Jennifer McAndrew, a virtual unknown in the world of politics at the time, ended up just 1,348 votes shy of toppling heavy favourite Jenna Sudds in the federal election – just a three per cent difference.

WEST CARLETON – Ward 5 Coun. Clarke Kelly, the City of Ottawa’s representative on the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA), will head to Toronto this weekend with an opportunity to speak to several provincial ministers with a focus on West Carleton issues at the annual conference.

WEST CARLETON – Like a movie actor promoting their latest blockbuster, Ward 5 Coun. Clarke Kelly is doing the media tour getting ready to host the 2024 rural summit at city hall later this year.

CITY HALL – Ottawa’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs committee (ARAc) will put their support behind one of four proposed Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects targeting rural Ottawa, the only proposal not based in West Carleton.

CITY HALL – The Agriculture and Rural Affairs committee (ARAc) will have the City of Ottawa’s first public discussion on the various Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) proposals, including three in the West Carleton area, and city staff will recommend the committee approved giving all three a Municipal Support Resolution.

It has been a very busy few weeks at city hall and around West Carleton-March when it comes to municipal affairs.

FITZROY HARBOUR – Ward 5 Coun. Clarke Kelly who attended last night’s (Nov. 1) proponent-led Fitzroy Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) agrees with the rest of the community members attending last night’s meeting, and feels the project is not in the best interest of the Fitzroy Harbour community.

KINBURN – It was only a handful of Ward 5 residents present for Ward 5 Coun. Clarke Kelly’s public budget consultation Thursday (Oct. 19) evening, but those in attendance represented a wide demographic, and each and every one was able to as a question to the councillor or special guest City of Ottawa treasurer Cyril Rogers.

KINBURN – A group of 21 Ward 5 farmers representing a wide range of agricultural interests, sat in the round in Roly Armitage Hall Monday (Sept. 18) evening taking part in Coun. Clarke Kelly’s first meeting of his Agricultural Advisory Council.
