In the world we live in, where technology reigns supreme and science fiction becomes reality, there’s an unsettling truth we must grapple with: we are becoming hackable beings.

As we head into August, the final month of summer recess before the House of Commons resumes, I’m speaking directly with residents to hear your feedback, stopping in at local businesses, working with my new provincial counterpart (more on that below!), and getting up to speed on the functions of my new role as minister.

Of all the rural communities within Ottawa, we believe the Village of Carp deserves much more attention.

While the rainstorms may have tried to dampen our spirits, the West Carleton-March community, with lawn chairs in hand, came out in full force for another great Concert in the Park this past week.

Summer vacation is over. I was shocked to find out the last column I wrote was April 30. Oopsies. Instead of taking responsibility for the missed columns, I’m going to reframe it as a dire warning to readers of what life could be like without community journalism.
