DUNROBIN – Last week City of Ottawa planning staff kicked off their annual Planning Primer info series to roughly 50 online attendees including West Carleton Online.

FITZROY HARBOUR – While West Carleton residents proved they will plow through the snow to play euchre, freezing cold can certainly put a bit of a damper on card throwing.

CARP – It was a record-breaking year for the Carp Fair, on many fronts, as the 2024 Carp Fair presidents passed the torch to the 2025 presidents during last week’s (Jan. 23) Carp Agricultural Society (CAS) annual general meeting.

WEST CARLETON – It might seem counter-intuitive, but West Carleton residents are right in the middle of prime home fire season.

CITY HALL – In what was a very Ward 5 focused Agriculture and Rural Affairs committee (ARAc) meeting Thursday (Jan. 23), the committee publicly stated the motion to buy 223 acres near Fitzroy Harbour belonged with ARAc along and forwarded their own motion to prioritize  land that should also be considered for purchase for preservation.

CARP – The popular Carp Fair euchre series kicked off last Saturday (Jan. 18) with cards flying everywhere, but before the action started, organizers and players alike said goodbye to a longtime volunteer.

CONSTANCE BAY – West Carleton Disaster Relief (WCDR) and the Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) are once again teaming up to help rebuild a home destroyed by flooding.

CARP – Last year, the Carp Classic open curling bonspiel made its return to the community after more than 15 years away.

KINBURN – Tomorrow (Jan. 8), Kinburn’s Gladys Barr will turn 100-years-old.

KINBURN – Last Saturday (Dec. 14) friends, family and community gathered at the Kinburn Community Centre to celebrate lifelong community member Clem Smith, and in return Clem gave a heartfelt thank you to those who came to his aid to help him recover from a devastating barn fire on Oct. 28.
