CARP – Thoughts both for and against the Village of Carp hooking up to the City of Ottawa’s main water system flowed through last week’s (May 21) water meeting which was the plan for an event designed to get the conversation started.

CARP – For the last few years a beacon of hope grew out of the soil along the Carp Road Corridor, and on Thursday (May 23) all those involved with its creation celebrated the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC) with a ribbon cutting and tour of the facility expected to save countless young lives starting in just a couple of weeks.

FITZROY HARBOUR – Yesterday (May 21) morning, Ottawa police were called to the Kinburn area to deal with a loose filly near the road.

KINBURN – Calahan Findlay is growing up on a beef farm, has been learning the industry since birth, and now he is becoming a young leader provincially, recently named to the Ontario Junior Angus Association (OJAA) board.

FITZROY HARBOUR – The Fitzroy Harbour Community Association (FHCA) is so efficient, their annual general meeting last Tuesday (May 7)

KINBURN – With Canadian wildfires already raging, and Coun. Clarke Kelly stating he has heard a lot of concern about fire in the Torbolton Forest, West Carleton Online expected a larger turnout for last Wednesday’s (May 8) Wildfire Preparedness Information Session featuring some of the community’s and the province’s foremost wildfire experts.

FITZROY HARBOUR – A large Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project known as Fitzroy BESS was selected by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) to move forward despite objections from City of Ottawa council.

CARP – In what might be the least surprising survey results in West Carleton history, Village of Carp residents are overwhelmingly in favour of the village connecting to the City of Ottawa’s water service.

CONSTANCE BAY – The rain held off, for the most part, allowing roughly 50 registered volunteers to roll up their sleeves and give their Constance Bay community a good scrubbing last Saturday (April 27).

CARP – It was a smaller attendance than usual for the Huntley Community Association’s (HCA) annual general meeting last Thursday (April 25), and those in attendance learned the HCA is in a strong financial position and looking to spend in 2024.
