For the past several years, whenever someone asked me what my New Year’s resolution was, I’d give the same answer.

ARNPRIOR – For the final story in our series West Carleton: The gift that keeps on giving, we caught up with publisher Jake Davies to find out what has kept him on the local beat, up and down the Ottawa Valley, for more than two decades.

CONSTANCE BAY – With a light snow falling over Constance Bay, painting the bare trees along the parade route hours in advance of the official start, the scene was set for the fourth annual Constance Bay Santa Claus Parade.

CITY HALL – Despite West Carleton-March Coun. Clarke Kelly’s best efforts, City of Ottawa Council voted in favour of a zoning amendment for what will be West Carleton’s largest private infrastructure project in its history.

FITZROY HARBOUR – Mr. and Mrs. Claus were doing some pre-Christmas scouting Saturday (Dec. 6) in Fitzroy Harbour and spent the whole day dividing all the village’s kids on to two very important lists, all while attending two holiday events.

DUNROBIN – The quaint tradition of the Dunrobin Christmas Tree Lighting celebrated its 10th anniversary Sunday (Nov. 30) shining the light on the start of the Christmas season in the community and greater West Carleton.

DUNROBIN – Move over drafty old farmhouse, new air-tight homes are on the way.

CARP – Last week (Nov. 20), the Huntley Township Historical Society (HTHS) held their 2025 annual general meeting (AGM) which was followed by guest speaker Charlene Johnston, administrator of the Carp Valley Vintage Facebook group.

BECKWITH – Years ago when equestrian coach Gillian Phillips rode an equine simulator for the first time, she knew she was hooked.

CARP – Last week (Nov. 19), roughly 30 people learned about the Carp Airport Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) that will use aqueous flow, water-based batteries to help provide Ontario’s grid with energy stability.
