FITZROY HARBOUR – For the first time in a handful of years, the Fitzroy Harbour Winter Carnival was able to celebrate in winter weather.

CARP – On Jan. 17, 45 community members from Carp and the surrounding Ottawa-West Carleton region came together for pizza, salad, climate learning and action workshop hosted by the Community Associations For Environmental Sustainability (CAFES) Ottawa and St. Paul’s Carp United Church.

KANATA – It was a full house for lunch, a talk on the province’s electricity grid, the important role Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will play and just how much power Kanata’s tech hub needs Thursday (Jan. 30).

DUNROBIN – Last Sunday (Jan. 26) was round up time for Hank the horse.

DUNROBIN – Last week (Jan. 20) Evolugen, the Canadian operations business for Brookfield Renewables announced in a letter to West Carleton Online, they have selected a site just off Marchurst Road, approximately 3.4 kilometres from the village of Dunrobin, for a proposed Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installation.

CITY HALL – While today’s (Jan. 23) Agriculture and Rural Affairs committee (ARAc) meeting focused on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facilities in general, the South March BESS was certainly the star of the show.

NEPEAN – The purchase of roughly 223 acres of land near Fitzroy Harbour will be discussed at next Thursday’s (Jan. 23) Agriculture and Rural Affairs committee (ARAc) meeting.

CONSTANCE BAY – It was touch and go there for a while, both body and weather-wise, but Santa Claus delivered for the West Carleton Outdoor Hockey League (WCOHL), and the best hockey league in the world kicked off the 2025 season on Len Russell Rink last Saturday (Jan. 4).
