CARP – The Anglican Parish of Huntley hosted Advent Fun Day Dec. 1 to kick off the Christmas season with its greater community, but also as a reminder Advent isn’t just a calendar full of treats.

MARSHALL BAY – An unauthorized sign threatening a road closure on MacHardy Road, that appeared mysteriously a couple of weeks ago, is causing great concern and some fear for residents of Marshall Bay who live a kilometre beyond the sign.

FITZROY HARBOUR – If you were a shopper as late as this coverage, in relative terms, of last week’s Bethel-St. Andrew’s United Church Women’s (UCW) Christmas Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 23 you definitely would have missed all the good stuff.

CONSTANCE BAY – The Constance and Buckham’s Bay Community Association (CBBCA) have a unique position in West Carleton when it comes to staying fit.

DUNROBIN – Dunrobin’s volunteer firefighters turned summer pancake flipping in to a big, fat fall donation for the West Carleton Food Access Centre (WCFAC).

KINBURN – It’s the unofficial start to the Christmas shopping season, and if the 42 annual Kinburn Craft and Gift Fair can be used as a barometer, it’s going to be a busy season.

CONSTANCE BAY – Branch 616’s Saturday (Nov. 9) Remembrance Day service seemed to be a bigger affair than West Carleton Online has witnessed in recent years, even including sentries around the Cenotaph for the first time, and the Legion itself was as boisterous as always following the somber ceremony on a perfect fall afternoon.

CARP – Carp’s Cheryl Bush and Peter Bowles return as organizers for this year’s Nov. 11 Remembrance Day service, now less than a week away.

CONSTANCE BAY – The West Carleton Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 616, continues its tradition of hosting West Carleton’s first Remembrance Day Service, and that tradition is always on the first Saturday before Nov. 11.

SOUTH MARCH – Operational since last March, Ottawa firefighters and politicians figuratively cut the ribbon on the city’s newest fire hall Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) Station 45 just last Monday (Oct. 28). Literally, it was a fire hose.
