WEST CARLETON – Remembrance Day is an important time for contemplation in Ward 5 and this year the community will have two traditional events to participate in as well as a new event in Galetta, and each one is on a different day.

DUNROBIN – The new Dunrobin plaza remains empty for now, but yesterday (Oct. 29) dignitaries gathered on a sunny fall day to cut the ribbon on the most anticipated building in the community in years.

BLUEBERRY MOUNTAIN – Earlier this month (Oct. 18), hikers flocked to Blueberry Mountain to take in one of Lanark County’s Seven Wonders at the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust (MMLT) annual Fall Colours Walk.

KINBURN – Surprisingly pleasant late fall weather made last weekend (Oct. 18 and Oct. 19) an attractive time to head outside, and the 28th edition of the fall Red Trillium Studio Tour (RTST) added even more colour to the season.

MARATHON VILLAGE – It’s been a long, dry summer in West Carleton, and while fall is here, many residents are still battling dry wells and no water in the community.

WEST CARLETON – It is something West Carleton Online publisher Jake Davies has heard in the community over and over again for more than 23 years, ‘we came to West Carleton for its rural character.’

DUNROBIN – Whether you have a bad doggie or the best boy, last Sunday, St. Mary’s Anglican Church was more than willing to bless your pooch. Or any other animal.

CARP – Each year, West Carleton’s Truth and Reconciliation Ceremony grows bigger in numbers but never loses its humanity.

CARP – The winds were light, and the weather was perfect flying in to the Carp Airport Sunday, Sept. 21 and grabbing some breakfast.

CONSTANCE BAY – Opening night is still a month away, but the Rural Root Theatre Company (RRTC) is hard at work getting both nuanced reactions and pratfalls ready for their fall production of Sandy Toes and Salty Kisses.
