WEST CARLETON – New City of Ottawa councillor for Ward 5 Clarke Kelly is only three months in to his new job, 11 days in to the New Year, but ready to take a look at 2023 and beyond.

CONSTANCE BAY – The return of the Royal Canadian Legion New Year’s Day Levee was welcomed by a large crowd Jan. 1, thankful for the return of the casual afternoon hosted by Branch 616 last Sunday.

FITZROY HARBOUR – It was organized on the fly and with no budget, but the tiny, little Santa Claus parade that wound its way through some of Fitzroy Harbour’s side streets last Saturday (Dec. 17) was an unqualified success.

CARP – If the last two static holiday events could be called parades, then this year’s Huntley Community Association (HCA) Santa Claus Parade could perhaps be referred to as a moving Light up the Village.

DUNROBIN – A man whose name is known across West Carleton for his leadership, devotion to community and love of West Carleton, George Kennedy passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 93-years-old.

GALETTA – Much to the relief of the long-serving former executive of the Galetta Community Association (GCA), a new executive has stepped up to lead the organization for 2023 and beyond.

FITZROY HARBOUR – The volunteers of the Bethel-St. Andrew’s United Church Women (BSAUCW) don’t know how long the annual bazaar has been running for, they’re just happy the church fundraiser is still running after the challenges of the last several years.

KANATA – It’s getting hot in here. Last Thursday (Nov. 24) evening, former Ward 5 councillor Eli El-Chantiry sat on a pretty, white leather chair, under the lights, and took it.

DUNROBIN – The little Christmas tree in the park at the four corners of Dunrobin has survived road salt, derechos, even a tornado, so a smidge of rain wasn’t going to stop the sixth annual Dunrobin Tree Lighting last night (Nov. 27).

KINBURN – A quick response by West Carleton volunteer firefighters may have saved a home from a basement fire this morning (Nov. 26).
