Carp Ridge hosting magical winter day for kids
By Jake Davies - West Carleton Online
CARP – Send your child for a magical winter day in the Carp Ridge forest connecting with nature, taking part in activities and crafts and making the most of the chilly season.

“Calling all parents looking for fun activities in the snow for your kids, ages six to nine,” Carp Ridge Learning Centre founder Dr. Katherine Willow told West Carleton Online Jan. 29. “Imagine dropping off your little ones at a cozy studio with woodstove burning and blankets ready for a grounding exercise so everyone relaxes. Then we will go outside and play in the winter wonderland on the Carp Ridge.”
Make snow angels, participate in snowman races, go on a wild scavenger hunt, gather natural materials for crafting and participate in other games “as we make them up.”
“Back inside, we will have some organic hot chocolate and snacks before turning our finds into art, singing some songs, maybe creating our own, and playing games, if there’s time,” Willow said. “You come back to pick up children who are happy, relaxed and tired. We look forward to welcoming your children for a wonderful afternoon in nature.”
The Carp Ridge Magical Winter Nature Camp will take place Sunday, Feb. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre (2386 Thomas A. Dolan Pkwy.).
The cost is $25 per child and you can register at www.carpridgelearningcentre.ca.
