CARP – Come and tour one of the Carp Ridge’s most beautiful properties during Saturday’s (May 3) Carp Ridge Ecowellness Centre Open House and Artisan Market.
There will be equal opportunities to shop, explore and learn at the unique centre which offers alternative paths to better health.

“We host it two times a year,” the Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre’s Mallory Peisley told West Carleton Online last week (April 23). “It’s an opportunity to open the doors to the community for people who want to know what we do here. They can test it out and see if there’s a program they would be interested in taking more of.”
The open house and artisan market will be held Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the facility nestled in the beautiful Carp Ridge forest (2386 Thomas A. Dolan Pkwy.)
There will be opportunities to enjoy the centre’s services the day of. There will be talks and demonstrations including the opportunity for a question and answer sessions with practitioners.
At 11:30 a.m., naturopathic doctor Dr. Rebecca Lester will lead a talk on gut health – whole-body healing through mind, nervous system and gut microbiome connection.
EcoWellness centre owner-operator and naturopathic doctor Dr. Katherine Willow will lead a discussion at 1 p.m. on How to Stay out of the Hospital. It will include health tips for you and your family to avoid lengthy waits at the emergency room that have become all too familiar in this area.
Practitioner demos include mini shiatsu massage, mini reiki and sound healing sessions.
Peisley says the community knows the centre is a naturopathic clinic but might not know what else is going on at the centre.
“I think they think of a naturopathic clinic, which it did start out as, but there’s a lot more now,” she said. “There are a lot of different types of healing therapies. I love the surroundings here. You drive in to a forest to get to the clinic, which is kind of relaxing. It’s a good feeling here.”
At the same time as the open house, Ninth Wave Arts will be hosing a crafting and artisan market outside along the walking paths of the Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre where there will also be live music.
“They bring in quite a few local artisans,” Peisley said. “They set up along a forested trail. It’s all outside and it’s all walkable.”
While the fascinating talks are scheduled at specific times, Peisley says the place will be hopping all day long.
“The other things, the practices and demos, market, will be all day, so there will be a lot happening and a lot to do,” she said.
