Carp Fair giving away power, prize money to grow giant pumpkins
Special to WC Online
CARP – The Carp Fair is kicking off a giant pumpkin growing contest and giving contestants the secret to growing those giant pumpkins.
“We are excited to present The Great Pumpkin Challenge, in memory of Connor Engelberts, sponsored by J.W. Leslie Utilities,” the Carp Agricultural Society (CAS) released in a statement Tuesday (April 26). “Some local growers have graciously donated Atlantic Giant Pumpkin Seeds.”
The Carp Fair is providing those seeds to anyone who wants to try their hand at growing a behemoth and entering it in a contest with some pretty great prize money.
Each package includes two seeds, ready to be started indoors and planted outdoors after the last frost.
“We have a limited supply of seeds, that can be picked up from the Carp Fair office Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,” staff said. “Get this, we have more than $1,000 worth of prize money to be won. Get your pumpkins growing.”
