Carp BIA hosts town hall on village water May 21

Special to WC Online

CARP – The Village of Carp Business Improvement Area (BIA) is hosting a town hall meeting on the Perceptions of the Carp Well System on May 21.

On May 6, the BIA shared the results of a recent survey looking to garner feedback on the community’s thoughts on the Carp water system and businesses and residents’ desire to hook up to the city system with West Carleton Online.

In that survey, 82 per cent of respondents had concerns about their water and 88 per cent of respondents would support connecting to city water.

“This information helps our local councillor determine how widespread the issue is,” BIA chair Jennifer Stewart told West Carleton Online at the time. “It provides Coun. Clarke Kelly with ammunition. I think it’s time now we stop with the band-aid solutions. There is provincial funding available. Connecting is where we need to go for our community. I’m not an expert on infrastructure, but the city is working on its Infrastructure Master Plan and it’s time to include that in the master plan.”

On Tuesday, May 21, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Carp Agricultural Hall (3790 Carp Rd.) the BIA will host a town hall meeting on the issue.

“The Village of Carp BIA invites residents and business owners to share their perceptions and concerns about the Carp Well System,” the BIA released in a statement Tuesday (May 7). “Your feedback will help us understand the community’s preferences regarding drinking water quality. Coun. Clarke Kelly and civil engineer Jennifer Murray will be in attendance to answer your questions.”

The BIA says you can RSVP to carpvillagebia@gmail.com.
