Return of Harvest Supper part of busy Carp BIA fall

CARP – The Village of Carp Business Improvement Area (BIA) is heading into the fall season with exciting plans to give back, connect local businesses and celebrate community spirit.
“As part of its commitment to supporting local businesses and residents, The Village of Carp BIA is making a $2,000 donation to the West Carleton Food Access Centre (WCFAC),” the BIA released in a statement today (Aug. 21). “In addition, the BIA is proud to support the next generation of rural leaders with a $1,000 donation to Carp 4-H. These contributions continue the BIA’s tradition of ensuring that community well-being and youth development are at the heart of its work.”
Earlier this year, co-chairs Lisa Kyte and Greg LeBlanc also led important community consultations around a proposed boundary expansion for The Village of Carp BIA.
“The goal of this work is to make the organization more inclusive and representative of the growing business community in Carp, ensuring all have a voice in shaping the future of the village,” the co-chairs said. “In addition, the board continues to advocate for improved water service to the village, recognizing that infrastructure investment is key to supporting sustainable growth for businesses and residents alike.”
Looking ahead, The Village of Carp BIA is preparing to host its popular Holiday Business Mix and Mingle, with board member Tara Azulay leading the organizing efforts.
“The winter edition of this networking event was a resounding success, bringing together entrepreneurs, shop owners, and professionals from across the area, and Tara and her team are eager to recreate that energy during the holiday season,” the BIA said.
One of the most anticipated announcements is the return of the Harvest Supper, last held in 2023.
“That event raised an incredible $10,000 for the WCFAC, while showcasing the very best of Carp’s farming community by sourcing every ingredient from local producers,” the BIA said.
This year’s Harvest Supper will once again highlight the importance of food security, rural entrepreneurship and community collaboration. The organizing committee will be chaired by Jennifer Stewart, former board chair, whose leadership helped make the 2024 edition such a success.
“Our BIA is about more than supporting local business – it’s about creating a thriving, connected community where residents, entrepreneurs, and visitors all feel at home,” Kyte said. “From giving back through donations, to bringing people together at events like the Harvest Supper and the Mix and Mingle, and continuing our advocacy for improved services in Carp, we’re proud of the role we play in building a stronger village and contributing to West Carleton as a whole.”
With placemaking initiatives, business support, advocacy and community events at the forefront, The Village of Carp BIA continues to demonstrate how local businesses can work together to create meaningful impact for the village and beyond.
