MVCA terminates flood warning for Dalhousie Lake, Clyde River

WEST CARLETON – A positive sign up the Mississippi Watershed, the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is terminating the flood warning for Dalhousie Lake and the Clyde River, two major feeders of the watershed through West Carleton to the Ottawa River.

“The MVCA is terminating the flood warning for Dalhousie Lake and Clyde River,” MVCA water resources technologist Jennifer North released in a statement today (April 26). “Levels and flows are declining and based on the current weather forecasts, that trend is expected to continue.”

Levels still remain high on Dalhousie and Mississippi Lakes but are declining.

“It will be at least another five to seven days before levels return to seasonal conditions,” North said. “Flows in the Mississippi River are also high but are gradually declining.”

Parents are encouraged to remind their children about hypothermia and the dangers of playing near fast flowing water.

“No further updates to this flood warning will be issued,” North said.
