Eight polling stations across WC on Oct. 24

WEST CARLETON – Election Day is one week away, and if you haven’t voted yet, here’s how and where you can do it in West Carleton.

The City of Ottawa is also issuing a reminder to return your special mail-in ballot by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24.

“If you applied for a special mail-in ballot between Sept. 1 and Sept. 16 and wish to vote by mail, you must return your completed ballot to the Elections Office or any Client Service Centre by Monday, Oct. 24, at 4:30 p.m. in order for your vote to be counted,” city staff released in a statement today (Oct. 17). “Any special ballots received after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, will not be counted.”

Voting Day in the 2022 Municipal Elections is only one week away. On Monday, Oct. 24, eligible electors will have the opportunity to cast their vote at their assigned voting place for the offices of mayor, city councillor and school board trustee.

There are eight voting places in West Carleton including the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre (100 Clifford Campbell Dr.), the NorthWind Wireless Fibre Centre (262 Len Purcell Dr.), the Kinburn Community Centre (3045 Kinburn Side Rd.), St. Michael Catholic School, Corkery (1572 Corkery Rd.), the Carp Agricultural Hall (3790 Carp Rd.), Carp Commons Retirement Village (458 Donald B. Munro Dr.), the West Carleton Secondary School (3088 Dunrobin Rd.) and St. Isidore Catholic School (1105 March Rd.).

Voting places are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the exception of long-term care centres and retirement homes which may have reduced hours. Electors can verify when and where they can vote on their voter notification letter or by using the Where Do I Vote? Tool on ottawa.ca/vote.

“You can bring your voter notification letter with you to the voting place to expedite the voting process; however, it is not required in order for you to vote,” staff said.

If you did not receive a voter notification letter, you can verify your information on the Voters’ List using the Am I on the Voters’ List? tool on ottawa.ca/vote, or by calling 311 or the Elections Office at 613-580-2660. If your name does not appear on the Voters’ List, or if you would like to amend your information, you can do so at your voting place on voting days. Applications to ‘Add or Amend my Information on the Voters’ List’ will be available at every voting place and are easy to fill out on-site.

“All electors will be required to present a piece of identification in order to receive a ballot at their voting place,” staff said. “The identification must show your name and qualifying Ottawa address. Photo identification is not required. If you cannot present an acceptable proof of identity and residence, you can make a statutory declaration prior to being issued a ballot.”
