Audrey Lackey
Retired Teacher
Peacefully, at Fairview Manor, Almonte after a sudden and very brief illness, on September 2, 2018, in her 87th year.
A teacher by profession she was very dedicated and always had the best interests of her students in mind. She was very supportive and involved in farm life and all that it entails. She was a great cook (best apple pie ever), she preserved, canned, excellent seamstress, knitted, gardened, was very artistic and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as precious babies.
Beloved and devoted wife of the late Worley Lackey for 62 years. Predeceased by her parents Ray Lett and beloved mother Vida Lett and her infant daughter Shirley Elaine in 1961. Survived by her “little” brother Barry Lett (Joanne) and predeceased by Marsha. Loving mother of Raymond (Dawn), Newfoundland, Mary Jane (Bart Johnson), Sutton, ON, Diana (late Peter Nanne), Almonte, and Stuart (Cathy), Almonte. Beloved and special grandmother of Erin Lackey (Chris Guirard), Kelsey Lackey both of Airdrie, Alberta, Rachel and Eva Mathieu of Ottawa, Rebecca (Pat Kelly), Christine (Jeff Fotherby), Robert (Emily) all of Pakenham, Patricia (Sean Downey), Allison and Steven of Almonte. Lucky to have 12 great-grandchildren of whom she adored; Olivia and Hollie Fotherby, Megan, Blake and Leah Kelly, Pierce and Tobin Nanne all of Pakenham, Brooklyn, Krysta, Cole and Courtney Downey of Alliston and Colton Guirard of Airdrie. Very special mother-in-law of Maggie Smith and her husband Bob Woods. Also remembered by Dan Mathieu and Lisa Edwards. Predeceased by her sister-in-law Gertie Jones (Emerson) and brother-in-law Stanley Lackey (Edna). Survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A heartfelt thanks to the caring, compassionate staff at Fairview Manor and Dr. McKillop.
