COVID-19 Monday morning numbers

OTTAWA – As of Sunday (June 7) Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting three new COVID-19-related deaths in the community along with six new cases of the virus.

To date, there have been 1,998 laboratory-confirmed cases in Ottawa, including 251 deaths.

The rate of resolved cases has jumped to 87 per cent (1,660). There are just 31 Ottawa residents with COVID-19 currently in hospital, while 14 ongoing outbreaks in institutions.

Three more institutions were cleared of the virus as of Friday, June 5: Queensway Carleton Hospital’s A Three Unit, Elizabeth Bruyere Residence and Shepherds of Good Hope.

There are 415 new COVID-19 cases and 19 new deaths in Ontario, the government reports.

According to Sunday’s numbers, that brings the province to a total of 30,617 cases and 2,426 deaths (a 7.9 per cent increase since Saturday).

Almost 80 per cent of cases have been resolved — or 24, 252 cases.

The province has completed 851,532 COVID-19 tests since the pandemic started, with 19,374 completed since Saturday. Only 6,779 are currently under investigation.

The number of patients hospitalized with the virus is 635 — 117 of which are in the ICU, 92 which are on ventilators. 

Over 38 per cent of cases involve patients 60 years of age or older.  Over 67 per cent of the province’s cases are in the GTA. There remain 311 outbreaks in long-term care homes across the province — which is unchanged since the last report.
