Free flu shots in the Bay

CONSTANCE BAY – West Carleton Online can verify getting the flu shot is no big deal – and it’s free.

While there have been a couple of one-day clinics in West Carleton the last couple weeks, you can drop by anytime you want at the Constance Bay Pharmacy to get your free flu shot.

Pharmacy owner and pharmacist Tamara Awada is ready for you seven days a week, Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

West Carleton Online dropped by Thursday (Nov. 14) afternoon for its free flu shot but was stuck in line behind Coun. Eli El-Chantiry.

“Seriously,” I didn’t feel a thing,” he told West Carleton Online. “I encourage everyone to do it.”

From start to finish, you can be in and out of the pharmacy with a band-aid on your arm in 15 to 30 minutes. Some quick paperwork, a shot, a bit of a wait to monitor conditions, and then off you go on your next adventure. A little longer if it’s your first time.

“You can just walk-in, fill out your form, take your shot and you are out in 15 minutes,” Awada said.

Awada has been giving the flu shot since 2012 and estimates she’s given about 9,000 shots. Awada’s Constance Bay pharmacy has been open since 2016.
