Remembrance Day in West Carleton

CARP – The West Carleton War Memorial has very quickly become West Carleton’s home for Remembrance Day services.
Last year an estimated 1,500 people came out to the annual service honouring our veterans. Once again in 2019, the war memorial will service as the gathering spot for Remembrance Day on Monday, Nov. 11.
The Village of Carp Business Improvement Association, the Anglican Parish of Huntley and St. Paul’s and Dunrobin United Churches will host the annual Remembrance Day service at the West Carleton War Memorial in the village of Carp.
The service will commence at 10:50 a.m. Seating and bleachers will be erected. Parking is available along Carp Road and in the Carp Fairgrounds.
A soup and sandwich levee will be available for all attendees in the Carp Agricultural Hall following the service. Alice’s Village Cafe is once again extending an invitation to all serving and past members of the Canadian Armed Forces in uniform to a free meal following the service.
The West Carleton Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 616, will also be hosting a Remembrance Day service. Traditionally, Branch 616 hosts its service on the Saturday (Nov. 9) before Remembrance Day.
