SUMMARY:Arts Carleton Place - 2026 Fine Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Arts Carleton Place is pleased to present the Spring Fine Art Exhibition\, taking place on May 2–3\, 10:00 to 4:3o p.m. at the Carleton Place Arena\, Upper Hall\, 75 Neelin St. This annual juried exhibition celebrates regional artistic excellence and provides the public with an engaging opportunity to experience high-quality fine art in a welcoming and accessible setting. Admission and parking are free\, and visitors will enjoy door prizes throughout the event. \nThis year’s exhibition features the work of fifty-four regional artists\, representing a broad range of styles\, disciplines\, and media. Six participating artists will be exhibiting in Carleton Place for the first time\, introducing new perspectives and creative voices to the show. The exhibition is thoughtfully juried to ensure balance in quality\, originality\, and variety\, creating an experience that appeals equally to collectors\, art enthusiasts\, and first-time visitors. \nA key highlight of this year’s exhibition is the presentation of a new body of work by Colleen Gray\, a local Indigenous artist and founder of Art for Aid. Her latest collection\, titled The Great Return – Terra Incognita\, is inspired by the emotional response evoked by viewing Earth from beyond the stratosphere. The work invites reflection on humanity’s relationship with the planet and our shared responsibility for its future. In recognition of her humanitarian contributions through Art for Aid\, Gray was awarded the Governor General of Canada’s Sovereign Medal for Volunteers in 2019. This collection represents a significant and compelling addition to the exhibition. \nThe Spring Fine Art Exhibition has earned strong praise from past attendees\, who have noted its thoughtful selection\, manageable scale\, and high artistic standards. The exhibition reflects a shared commitment to fostering creativity\, accessibility\, and cultural connection of all ages and backgrounds across the community and beyond regionally. \nArts Carleton Place gratefully acknowledges the continued support of the Town of Carleton Place through its Community Enrichment Program. Proceeds from the exhibition support Arts Carleton Place’s community engagement initiatives and contribute to the continued growth and vitality of the arts in the region. \nFor additional information\, visitors are encouraged to visit www.artscarletonplace.com \n
