DESCRIPTION:Event Description \nDate: Saturday\, August 10th\, 2019 \nLocation: Almonte Fairgrounds \nTime: 10 am- 4:30 pm \n  \nThis event is a fundraiser for the Almonte General Hospital and is held at the beach at the Almonte Fairgrounds. The Paddle Committee will hold 2 events\, a community paddle and a raft race. \n  \nEvent #1– The Community Paddle– \nRegistration fee is by donation only \nRegistration is on the day of the event \nThe community will be invited launch their canoes\, kayaks and stand up paddle boards from the beach at the Fairgrounds. Led by John Edwards\, the group will paddle up the river in the direction of Appleton and return to the boat launch (5km round trip). \n  \nEvent #2– The Great Raft Race for the Almonte General Hospital– \nRegistration fee is $100 per raft \nRegistration is by email at: raftraceagh@gmail.com \nParticipants will assemble a crew of 4 people\, plan and gather their materials for their raft ahead of race day. On race day\, the crew will assemble their rafts at the fairgrounds and race their completed raft across the Mississippi River leaving and returning from the beach. \n  \nEvent #3-  Learn to  Paddle a Stand-Up Paddle Board will be available free of charge to the public. \n  \nSchedule \n10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. \n– Community Paddle \n10:00 a.m.  \n-Raft Build Begins \n12:00 p.m. \n-Learn to Paddle \n1:00 p.m.  \n-Raft Build Ends \n– raft races begin \n3:30 p.m. -presentation of prizes for highest fundraising total\, winner of raft race\, best decorated raft\, best theme-based costume \n
