ARNPRIOR – There’s a group of Arnprior residents who have been raising the alarm about development planned beside Gillies Grove for months and next week the grassroots organization has two events scheduled.

ARNPRIOR – The Save the Grove Again (SGA) campaign will host a coffeehouse on Thursday, Feb. 20 to help answer “questions unanswered.”

ARNPRIOR – A group of Arnprior residents are organizing an opposition to the potential development of “ecologically sensitive and historically important” land adjacent to a popular old-growth forest known as Gillies Grove.

ARNPRIOR – On Saturday, May 24, musicians from across the Ottawa Valley will gather at Emmanuel Anglican Church (287 Harrington St.) in Arnprior for Songs for the Grove, a benefit concert in support of the Save the Grove Again campaign.

ARNPRIOR – During a Feb. 5 committee of adjustment meeting at Arnprior’s Nick Smith Centre the committee listened to the proponent, and then a long line of opponents to a severance application that would allow Cavanagh Communities to build a single lot between the Galilee Centre and the Arnprior hospital as well as a sensitive old growth forest known as Gillies Grove.

ARNPRIOR – This Wednesday (Feb. 5) is an important date for the Arnprior community members working to save a section of the Gillies Grove Nature Reserve from coming under ownership of developers.

ARNPRIOR – Despite the best efforts of a grass roots community group, an Ashton-based developer announced it is going ahead with the controversial purchase of an eight-hectare parcel of land next to  the historic old-growth forest Gillies Grove in Arnprior.
